Bahrain Parliament’s New Session Called by Royal Order

Bahrain parliament’s new session has been called. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Royal Order No. 31 of 2026 summoning the Shura Council and the House of Representatives to inaugurate the fifth session of the sixth legislative term, the Bahraini daily Gulf Daily News reported on Saturday.

Bahrain parliament’s new session and the social insurance law

According to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), King Hamad on Saturday also issued Decree Law (44) of 2026 amending provisions of the Social Insurance Law promulgated in 1976. The amendment was made on the proposal of the prime minister and after Cabinet approval, and takes effect the day after its publication in the Official Gazette, BNA said. The agency did not publish details of the amendments.

Sharia-compliant finance for industry

Gulf Daily News reported that Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB) signed a memorandum of understanding to support the industrial sector on the sidelines of the Made in GCC 2026 Forum and Exhibition. The bank introduced Sharia-compliant financing packages totalling $32 million for manufacturers, small and medium enterprises and companies in Bahrain, focused on increasing local content, sustainable manufacturing and supply-chain resilience, including financing for solar energy and lower-emission technologies. BisB chief executive Fatema Al Alawi said the allocation would support manufacturers seeking to raise local content and invest in sustainable technologies.
