IRGC: Iran Forces Fully Prepared on Land, Sea and Air; US Failed in Iraq

The Voice of Ummah: The deputy commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Mostafa Izadi, has said Iran’s armed forces stand fully prepared to confront any enemy on land, at sea and in the air. Should the enemy attack the country, he said, Iranian forces would stand firm until the end, drive the aggressors back and never allow them to seize even a single inch of Iranian soil.

According to Press TV, General Izadi spoke on Thursday while recalling the experience of the Sacred Defense, the eight-year war imposed on the Islamic Republic from 1980. “Today, too, we stand against the aggression of the criminal United States and the Zionist regime; and, just as in the Sacred Defense, through the self-sacrifice and resistance of the warriors of Islam, we will not permit any form of aggression against our beloved homeland,” he said.

IRGC: A formidable defensive front in every domain

The IRGC deputy chief said a formidable defensive front has been established across the country in all domains: land, sea, air, air defense and security. The enemy, he said, finds itself in a precarious position and repeatedly advances new claims to mask this reality. “Just as the enemy suffered defeat in past conflicts, any hostile move, no matter how slight, will once again result in their failure,” he warned.

General Izadi affirmed that Iran, standing alongside the Resistance Front, remains committed until the very end to defending divine values, justice and truth, and to supporting the oppressed across the region and the world.

“Americans failed in Iraq as in Afghanistan”

Referring to Iraq’s history of resisting foreign occupation, he said the Iraqi people are the same people who, under the leadership of great religious scholars, once drove the British out of their country. Just as the Americans fled Afghanistan in haste, he said, they have faced a similar situation in Iraq, and he expressed hope that Iraqis, through unity and cohesion, would safeguard their country and their values. Press TV noted that the remarks came after the formal conclusion of the long US military presence in Iraq on September 30.

General Izadi, a veteran of the Sacred Defense, was appointed IRGC deputy commander-in-chief by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, in August 2026. Tasnim News Agency reported that on October 8, during a visit to IRGC Ground Force personnel stationed along the southern coasts and islands, he said the IRGC Ground Force, Navy and Aerospace Force are present on the islands and in areas north of the Strait of Hormuz and are prepared to defend the strategic region. The Iranian Army’s Ground Force has separately said the Army’s combat readiness has turned any enemy attempt at ground aggression into an “unattainable dream”.
