Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada Secretary-General Abu Alaa al-Walai has strongly emphasized that the restructuring of weapons must coincide directly with the realization of complete and comprehensive national sovereignty in Iraq.
According to al-Walai, these two matters are fundamentally inseparable. In a statement shared on his official X account, he declared that trading weapons restructuring for absolute sovereignty forms an indivisible equation, maintaining that any alternative arrangement is entirely unacceptable.

This statement comes amid ongoing domestic debates in Iraq regarding bringing state-sanctioned weapons exclusively under government authority and regulating the status of various armed factions. Iraqi officials previously indicated that processes to consolidate state control over weaponry would follow the complete withdrawal of foreign forces from the international coalition.
