TEHRAN — Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei has said the “malicious network of global arrogance” spares no effort to inflict injustice and crimes on free and resistant nations, particularly the Iranian nation, including by imposing restrictions on medical treatment and medicines in a bid to bring suffering upon the great Iranian people.
The Leader made the remarks in a message issued on Friday, October 16, marking the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zainab al-Kubra (peace be upon her) and National Nurses Day in Iran. Opening the message, he recalled that the fifth of Jumada al-Awwal marks the blessed birth of a lady raised in the shade of the love and upbringing of the Five Pure Ones, whose brilliance peaked in the epic of Ashura through boundless self-sacrifice for the oppressed of Karbala and the highest symbols of steadfastness and courage.
Zainab-like women at the forefront of resistance
Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei said the history of the Islamic movement and Revolution has, from its beginnings, been filled with scenes of the Zainab-like presence of Iranian women and girls, a presence that reached “astonishing” proportions in quality and scale during the nation’s unprecedented awakening in the Third Sacred Defense.
“Today, the Zainab-like women of Islamic Iran, through their strong presence in various arenas, particularly in city and village squares, are at the forefront of practical advocacy and resistance behind the front lines of hard warfare,” the Leader said, according to Tasnim. He added that the tyrants of the age, who wish pain, suffering and repression upon the Iranian nation, do not find themselves capable of confronting this vast mobilization.
Supporting nurses a priority
Turning to National Nurses Day, the Leader said the people of Iran, devoted to the Prophet’s Household, have rightly designated Hazrat Zainab’s birth anniversary to honor nurses, given her compassion for those in pain and her selfless devotion to serving them.
He stressed that attention to nurses, strengthening the nursing community, and preserving and improving nurses’ knowledge, skills, capabilities, morale, motivation and dignity, especially those serving in non-private institutions, have an important impact on society’s physical and psychological health and security. He said health officials are expected to treat these matters as a priority.
The Leader congratulated the Iranian nation, the country’s dutiful women and the nursing community on both occasions.
He concluded by praying for divine mercy for the oppressed and self-sacrificing martyrs of the nursing community, particularly nurses martyred in the Second and Third Imposed Wars and in the sedition of Dey 1404 (January 2026), and expressed hope that, through the prayers of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance), Almighty God would grant the Iranian nation ever-greater honor and power.
