Former U.S. official and advisor to President Barack Obama, Dennis Ross, has acknowledged in an interview with Reuters that Iran’s steadfast resistance has continually surprised the United States. Ross stated that while Washington may view Iran’s economic difficulties as a strategic victory, the ground reality remains far more complex.
Ross emphasized that Tehran maintains its firm resolve regarding the strategic control of the Strait of Hormuz, systematically employing its military capabilities in the region. He expressed strong skepticism that conventional economic and military pressures alone could successfully force Iran to back down.
