Iran’s main human rights body has strongly condemned the international community’s inaction and silence over crimes of aggression against children, while highlighting the killing of dozens of innocent children during recent US-Israeli attacks on Iran.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Iran’s Human Rights Council said that the international community has mostly remained silent or selectively ignored crimes against children in different conflicts around the world.
The statement was released a week before the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, observed on June 4.
“Every year, June 4 serves as a test of the sincerity of international human rights institutions. The truth is that silence in the face of the killing of children is not neutrality, but complicity in crime. The international community must now, before it is too late, align its legal rhetoric with its practical conduct,” the statement said.
It noted that Iranian children have been victims of proxy terrorist acts and direct aggression for the past five decades, yet United Nations human rights institutions have largely stayed silent or indifferent.

The Iranian rights body stated that aggression against Iranian children has intensified in the past two years due to two rounds of US-Israeli aggression that killed and injured tens of children. This includes a deadly airstrike on a school in southern Iran on February 18 that killed more than 160 children and staff — a clear war crime under international law.
The statement stressed that such attacks by the US and Israeli regime violate the Rome Statute and the 1974 Declaration on the Protection of Children in War. It also accused the Israeli regime and certain Western governments of funding and supporting terrorist attacks in Iran over the past 48 years that have killed innocent children.
Iran called on the international community to hold the Israeli regime and its commanders accountable for their numerous crimes against children in Palestine and other regions.
