Hamas Islamic Jihad Nakba: Palestinian resistance movements reaffirm struggle for liberation on 78th anniversary of Nakba

Palestinian resistance movements Hamas and Islamic Jihad have reaffirmed their adherence to resistance against Israel until Palestine is fully liberated and urged the international community to stop the regime’s terrorism which poses a real threat to the security and stability of the region and the world.

The statement was issued on the 78th anniversary of Nakba Day which marks the mass displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in 1948.

Hamas said there is no legitimacy or sovereignty for the occupation over the land of Palestine no matter how much time passes. The movement urged the world to criminalize the occupation and empower the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with al-Quds as its capital.

Hamas condemned ongoing Israeli ceasefire violations that have killed more than 850 Gazans since the agreement and described them as an attempt to impose a fait accompli. The movement paid tribute to martyred resistance leaders and dismissed any talk of disarming the resistance while the occupation continues.

In a separate statement Islamic Jihad stressed that confronting the Zionist project is a religious national and moral duty. The movement greeted resistance forces in Lebanon Yemen Iraq and especially the Islamic Republic of Iran for their steadfast support.

Both movements affirmed that Israeli atrocities will not weaken the Palestinian people’s determination to continue Jihad and resistance until liberation of their land sanctities and prisoners.
