Palestine Signs Commemorative Board Marking 80 Years of UN Charter

Palestine’s Permanent Representative Riyad Mansour signs UN Charter 80th anniversary commemorative board

NEW YORK: The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, signed the commemorative board marking 80 years of the adoption of the United Nations Charter.

The United Nations provided an opportunity for 195 states, including 193 member states as well as the State of Palestine and the Vatican as observer states, to participate in the signing.

Mansour inscribed the word “Hope,” in reference to the principles embodied in the UN Charter.

This symbolic participation comes as Palestine continues its diplomatic efforts at the international level to secure its legitimate rights, end the Israeli occupation, and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and UN resolutions.
