As the crescent moon of Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 Hijri was sighted, the entire country, like the rest of the world, has begun observing the sacred month with great religious passion and devotion.
In big and small cities, towns, and villages across Pakistan, lovers of Ahl-e-Bait (a.s.) from both Shia and Sunni schools of thought are spreading the floor of mourning with utmost reverence and respect.

Thousands of men, women, children, and elders are participating in majalis and processions wearing black attire. Devotees are also arranging sabeels of water, sharbat, and cold drinks along with nazr-o-niyaz with open hearts.
It is worth mentioning that, InshaAllah, this chain of Azadari (mourning) will continue from the 1st to the 10th of Muharram (Day of Ashura), up to the 20th of Safar (Chehlum of Shuhada-e-Karbala), and until the 8th of Rabi-ul-Awwal.
Meanwhile, in Jhelum, the Punjab government’s biased action banning women’s majlis in an Imam Bargah has drawn criticism from religious circles.
