A massive protest rally was held in Gilgit-Baltistan under the leadership of Agha Syed Rahat Hussain Al-Hussaini to condemn the extrajudicial and unjustified arrests of local youth. A large number of religious scholars, community elders, and the general public participated in the demonstration, issuing a strict deadline to the government to release all innocent youth by Monday.
Addressing the rally, Agha Syed Hussain Rizvi declared the state’s discriminatory actions as completely unacceptable. Agha Syed Rahat Hussain Al-Hussaini also issued a stern warning, clarifying that if the detainees are not freed by Monday, religious scholars will offer mass arrests and a much stricter course of action will be adopted for future protests.

During the protest, the demonstrators presented their core demands to the government. These include the immediate release of innocent youth, an end to illegal detentions, and a transparent investigation into alleged torture during custody. They also strongly demanded the immediate arrest of the actual culprits responsible for insulting sacred figures, bringing the perpetrators of past tragedies to justice, and an immediate end to all sectarian-based discriminatory actions.
Meanwhile, in Skardu, Agha Syed Baqir Al-Hussaini announced his complete and vigorous support for the Gilgit protests during his Friday sermon at the Central Imamia Jamia Masjid. Stating in clear terms that “Gilgit and Baltistan are one soul in two bodies,” he warned the authorities that if the innocent youth are not released immediately, the scope of the protests will be expanded across the entire region.
