Iran National Football Team: Grand Farewell Ceremony at Revolution Square for World Cup 2026

Iran’s national football team was given a grand and historic farewell on Wednesday 23 May 2026 at Tehran’s famous Revolution Square for the World Cup 2026. Thousands of men, women, youth and elders gathered holding Iranian flags to send off their national heroes.

On this memorable occasion the team’s new kit was unveiled featuring a beautiful design of Iran’s national animal the Persian cheetah. The number 12 jersey was specially presented to the mother of martyr Amir Hossein Mahmoudzadeh which became the most emotional moment of the ceremony.

Football Federation President Mehdi Taj, Farideh Shojaei and other senior officials stood shoulder to shoulder with the people. Team captain Ehsan Haji Safi read the covenant and delivered a message of national unity. Air Force representative pilot Mehrjou thanked the entire nation. At the end the team’s official anthem was played for the first time.

This farewell was not just the departure of a football team but a powerful expression of the spirit of the Islamic Revolution, national pride and the unbreakable resolve of the Iranian people that whether on the battlefield or the sports field Iran will always shine.
