Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has announced that Iran will charge fees for services provided to vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Baghaei made these remarks while emphasizing that foreign military bases and presence in the region must come to an end.

The statement reflects Iran’s firm policy of exercising sovereignty over its territorial waters and strategic chokepoints. Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that any agreement or understanding with the United States must include the complete withdrawal of foreign forces from the region and respect for Iran’s legitimate rights in the Persian Gulf.
