Sudan’s Al-Burhan Inspects Army Readiness Amid Blue Nile Clashes

Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, visited Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile state, to inspect the combat readiness of the army’s 4th Infantry Division. This strategic visit comes amid rapidly escalating clashes in the southeastern state between the Sudanese armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), alongside its ally, the SPLM-N.

During his tour, Burhan urged troops to heighten their vigilance and combat preparedness, while also visiting the local military hospital to review care for wounded soldiers. The region has witnessed intense recent developments, including the arrival of allied joint forces, the army shooting down drones from Ethiopia, and the RSF claiming the capture of two military bases. These localized clashes are part of a broader nationwide war that began in April 2023, leaving tens of thousands dead and displacing approximately 13 million people.
