TEHRAN – A senior spokesman for the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran has urged regional countries to abandon the ineffective US security umbrella, warning that continued reliance on Washington would impose heavy costs on them.
According to Tasnim News Agency, Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi said in a message released on Monday that the US is sinking deeper into a self-created quagmire in West Asia and is resorting to fuel smuggling to escape it.
He emphasized that “maritime piracy, theft and fuel smuggling” could never prevent Washington’s eventual defeat.
US Claims on Hormuz Cannot Change Realities
The Iranian Armed Forces spokesman said US propaganda and repeated claims of control over the Strait of Hormuz could neither change realities on the ground nor shield Washington from the consequences of its failed strategies.
Shekarchi added that Iran’s Armed Forces are better prepared and more capable than before and would firmly defend the country’s national interests and security, warning that they would “impose defeat on the enemies” through powerful action.
‘The Rotten Rope of Trump and Netanyahu’
“The regional countries must learn from their experience and not throw themselves into a deadly pit by trusting the rotten rope of Trump and Netanyahu,” he said.
Brigadier General Shekarchi further stated that Iran would not allow the United States and the Zionist regime to restore their desired regional order in West Asia.
The statement comes as oil tankers violating navigation rules set by the IRGC Navy in the Strait of Hormuz have struck sea mines in a series of incidents. On the same day, Iran’s caretaker defense minister also warned US officials that hostile rhetoric against Iran amounted to “playing with fire.”
