Iran has announced it will pursue legal action in domestic and international judicial bodies following a US airstrike that destroyed two drinking water reservoirs in the southern province of Hormozgan.
The early morning strike on Wednesday destroyed civilian water infrastructure in Sirik, cutting off access to drinking water for more than 20,000 residents in Kuhestak town and 10 villages in the Bemani district, where temperatures exceed 45 degrees Celsius.

Mojtaba Qahramani, head of Hormozgan provincial judiciary, stated that the case has been registered as a war crime. He cited Articles 52 and 54 of the 1977 Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit attacks on objects essential for civilian survival such as drinking water facilities.
Iranian officials and international legal experts have strongly condemned the attack as a clear war crime and collective punishment. President Masoud Pezeshkian described such threats against critical infrastructure as a sign of American desperation.
Water supply to the affected areas has since been restored within less than 12 hours.
