With the Gaza ceasefire one year old on Saturday, October 10, Palestinians continue to face attacks and forced displacement instead of relief and reconstruction. According to an Al Jazeera analysis, the truce brokered by US President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace”, which began on October 10, 2025, has failed to deliver its core goals.
Israeli occupation beyond the agreed line
Al Jazeera reported that Trump’s 20-point plan required Israeli forces to withdraw to about 50 percent of the Gaza Strip, but Israel now occupies around 60 percent. The “Yellow Line” marking the occupied area has been pushed further into the Strip, squeezing the population into an ever-shrinking space.
The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, led by Ali Shaath, operates from Cairo because Israel has not allowed it into Gaza. According to the IPC hunger monitor, about 227 aid trucks enter daily instead of the 600 promised, and 1.4 million Palestinians will face hunger until at least December.

“This is all by design”
Mohamad Elmasry of the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies told Al Jazeera that Israel is continuing a broader policy of “ethnic cleansing” in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. “They are making life miserable,” he said. “This is all by design.” Simon Mabon, a professor at Lancaster University, said the board has “failed”, allowing “the genocide to continue.”
Al Jazeera also cited a joint statement by more than 100 humanitarian and rights organisations saying the ceasefire exists “in name only.” Gaza’s Health Ministry says 1,481 Palestinians have been killed since the truce began.
