A senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has warned that any violation of a recently-signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States will trigger a “swift and crushing” response.

In a post on his X account on Saturday, Major General Mohsen Rezaei said the US had already violated multiple provisions of the war-ending Islamabad MoU.

Rezaei pointed out that Washington violated the first clause by supporting Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the fifth clause by continuing to create tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. He reiterated that the response to any violation will be swift and crushing.

The warning comes amid disagreements over the implementation of the MoU. The US Central Command announced strikes on Iranian sites, prompting retaliatory action by the IRGC. The 14-point MoU aims to end the war on all fronts, lift sanctions, remove the naval blockade, and restore commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
