At least 20 people have been killed and five others remain missing following a massive fire on a cargo ship under repair at the Qingdao port in northeastern China. According to the Xinhua news agency, the fatal incident occurred at the Beihai Shipbuilding Company and involved the Liberian-flagged vessel, Ocean Melody.
At the time of the fire, a total of 42 people were on board the ship. Emergency rescue teams successfully evacuated 12 individuals to safety. Five others sustained injuries and were immediately transferred to a local hospital for urgent medical care, where doctors have confirmed that their conditions are stable and out of danger.

In response to the tragic accident, high-level emergency protocols are actively underway. Chinese President Xi Jinping has taken official notice of the incident, issuing strict directives to relevant authorities and rescue agencies to accelerate search operations for the missing individuals and ensure comprehensive relief efforts are provided.
