RAMALLAH: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that Israeli forces are approaching control of approximately 70% of the Gaza Strip as military operations continue and occupied areas expand.
Speaking at the start of a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said Israeli forces currently control more than 60% of the Gaza Strip and are expected to reach 70% control soon.

These remarks come with continued advances by Israeli forces along the eastern border of Gaza and expansion of military buffer zones, particularly in Beit Lahia, the Netzarim Corridor, and south of Khan Younis.
The Israeli military campaign in Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, has resulted in the killing of 72,971 Palestinians and injury of 173,128 others, according to Palestinian sources.
