The United States and Iran have edged closer to finalizing a 14-point memorandum to end the imposed war, halt American maritime aggression, and secure the release of Iran’s blocked assets, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman says.
Speaking in a televised interview, Esmaeil Baghaei elaborated on the day-long visit by a Pakistani delegation led by Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir to Tehran. He hailed Islamabad’s important mediating role in talks between Iran and the US in recent weeks.
Baghaei said the purpose of the Pakistani delegation’s visit was to continue the exchange of messages between Tehran and Washington. Iran’s focus remains exclusively on ending the US-Israel imposed war based on the Islamic Republic’s 14-point proposal.
He acknowledged that after several weeks of dialogue, the process appears to be moving toward a convergence of views, though Iran cannot be fully confident that the US approach will not shift again.

The spokesman outlined that the two sides are first drafting a memorandum of understanding consisting of 14 articles covering the most important issues to end the war. Subsequently, within 30 to 60 days, they would discuss the details and reach a final agreement.
On the nuclear issue, Baghaei said it is not on the table at this stage. He stressed that removal of all sanctions is Iran’s constant demand and has been explicitly included in the text.
Pakistan is the official mediator while Qatar is facilitating certain articles of the memorandum. Baghaei noted that regional countries are concerned about peace and security and have tried to help in this regard.
