Iran advances its space program with Pars 2 satellite and Shahid Soleimani constellation

Iran’s space industry is moving forward with renewed momentum as the Minister of Information and Communications Technology announced plans for the imminent launch of the “Pars 2” satellite and the deployment of the “Shahid Soleimani” constellation by the end of the year.

Speaking at a meeting with experts and officials of the Iranian Space Research Institute, including Hassan Salarieh, head of the Iranian Space Agency (ISA), Sattar Hashemi praised the achievements of the space sector and described the ministry’s approach as strategic.

Hashemi highlighted the resilience of Iran’s space infrastructure during the recent US-Israeli war of aggression, calling the continuation of operations a significant accomplishment. He stressed the importance of expanding satellite applications for agriculture, water management, and governance.

The minister confirmed that planning is underway for the launch of the domestically-developed Pars 2 Earth observation satellite. He also announced that the Shahid Soleimani satellite constellation will be ready for launch by the end of the year.

Hassan Salarieh, head of the Iranian Space Agency, reaffirmed that space projects are progressing at high speed despite wartime conditions, noting that the distributed nature of Iran’s space infrastructure prevented any major disruption.
